NO IELTS & $9,300/YR TUITION FEE
I want to share some great news! My sister got accepted at New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) for Fall 2020. New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is part of Atlantic provinces and one of the most affordable college institutions in Canada. This school is also eligible for Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. I know some people are not familiar with getting the letter of acceptance in this school. In this article, I will share her journey on getting her letter of acceptance.
STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR PROGRAM
Go to the NBCC website and go to "Admission & Finances" and click "Seats available". The admission process is a bit competitive since New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is one of the affordable colleges in Canada. Expect that the seat gets full very quickly.
STEP 2: CHECK THE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Check if you are eligible for the program you're about to take. The school has different profile categories. For Filipinos, you need to meet at least Profile A. In my sister's case, she only completed a two-year diploma in the Philippines, we ensured that she picked a program where it says "Profile A". Hence, if you completed a (4) yr degree program in the Philippines, you may be able to meet other profiles. You need to verify it with the admission officer. I have here the link where you can check the meaning for each profile. To check the program requirements, click your desired program and scroll down and look for "Admission Requirements" as illustrated below.
STEP 3: SUBMIT AND PAY YOUR APPLICATION FOR ASSESSMENT
You have to complete the application form online. You have to provide some of your information such as program details, contact, educational background etc. Once completed, ensure to pay the application fee of $100. This is non-refundable, see this link for payment options.
STEP 4: SUBMIT SCHOOL CREDENTIALS FOR ASSESSMENT
The success of your admission will depend on the completeness of your requirements. Here is the list of the documents we have submitted to NBCC. Your school in the Philippines has to send the COLLEGE & HIGH SCHOOL CREDENTIALS, AND ENGLISH CERTIFICATE directly to NBCC via email or mail post. You also have the option to send your school credentials directly to NBCC if you have it on a sealed envelop (original documents won't be returned to you).
1. College - Transcript of records and diploma (certified copy or original)
2. High school - Form 137 and diploma (provided with translations)
3. English as a medium of instruction certificate (search in google for the format)
STEP 5: WAITING TIME
Based on our experience, the usual waiting time on getting your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) will be between two to three months. That being said, if you are considering enrolling in New Brunswick Community College. We suggest to think ahead and apply ahead of time. Choose two programs so you have option 1 & 2 being processed at the same time. Nevertheless, the waiting time is worth it!
STEP 6: CONFIRMING YOUR LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE
Finally, after getting accepted you need to pay the non-refundable $500 deposit to reserve your slot. The payment process will the same as mentioned above. This letter of acceptance is an integral part of your student permit requirements.
STEP 7: PAY YOUR TUITION FEE
Once you have your student permit secured, you may now pay your tuition fee. As per their website, the current tuition fee for the year 2019/2020 is $9,282/year. You also need to pay other fees such as health insurance, international student fee, resource fee, etc. To verify, please click this link "tuition fees". For health care, you can apply for the provincial health card and you may have the option to opt-out for the international health insurance once you arrive in Canada.
